The most common publishing errors are listed here, with advised steps that you can take for each error.

1- Facebook error: Please reduce the amount of data you’re asking for, then retry your request (code 1, subcode null)

Possible Reasons?

  • This is a known issue with the Facebook API, documented in several of their bug reports. According to Facebook, it typically occurs when their servers experience memory shortages.
  • This issue can occur with less active Facebook Pages, especially when attempting to publish “heavy” posts that include a combination of text, links, images, mentions, and other rich content.

Possible Solution:

  • We suggest trying to remove mentions of other Pages in your post, as this has helped in the past. It may also help to exclude other elements such as images or URLs, if possible, and then attempt to publish the post again.
  • If the post keeps failing to publish, the issue may lie with the Facebook API’s handling of mentions. In such cases, try posting directly on Facebook.com, or schedule the post through Social Champ and manually add the mention afterward.

2- Facebook error: An unknown error occurred

Possible Reason?

  • The reason for this error is unknown, and unfortunately, we don’t have any further information.

Possible Solution:

  • We suggest you look into your Facebook account to see if the posts have been successfully posted. If they haven’t, please try again later.

3- Facebook error: An unknown error occurred (code 1, subcode 99)

Possible Reason?

  • This issue may occur due to missing permissions on your Facebook page.

Possible Solution:

  • We suggest reconnecting your Facebook Page and ensure all necessary permissions are granted during the connection process.

4- Facebook error: Response of type OAuthException: An unexpected error has occurred. Please retry your request later. (code 2, subcode null)

Possible Reason?

  • This may occur when communication with the Facebook API is temporarily inaccessible, preventing us from processing the publishing operation at that time.

Possible Solutions:

  • We suggest first checking if the post was eventually published on your Facebook Page sometimes, even if the initial attempt fails, the post may go live a minute later. -If the post hasn’t been published, we suggest trying to schedule it for a later time and then attempt to publish again.

5- Facebook error: Response of type OAuthException: Service temporarily unavailable (code 2, subcode 1609010)

Possible Reason?

  • Error message is not clear, it could be due to API down or a temporary issue.

Possible Solutions:

  • We suggest first checking whether the post was actually published on your Facebook Page sometimes, even if the initial attempt fails, the post may appear a minute later.
  • If the post hasn’t been published, we suggest scheduling it for a later time and attempting to post it again.

6- Facebook error: (#32) Page request limit reached (code 32, subcode null)

Possible Reason?

  • This may occur when your Page reaches its API call limit.

 Possible Solution:

  • The rate limit is determined by Daily Active People (DAP)  the more active users your page has, the higher the allowed threshold. Once this limit is exceeded, Facebook temporarily locks the page’s API access. Unfortunately, the only way to resolve this is to wait for Facebook to automatically unlock it.

7- Facebook error: Response of type OAuthException: Invalid parameter (code 100, subcode 2061006)

Possible Reason?

  • This may occur when a URL is not inserted in the correct format, which is often the root cause of the issue.

 Possible Solution:

  • We suggest checking the field where the URL is pasted to ensure it’s in the correct format. Once corrected, try publishing the post again.

8- Facebook error: Response of type OAuthException: Invalid parameter (code 100, subcode 1349125)

Possible Reason?

  • This may occur due to an invalid parameter error, which generally means there’s an issue with the content being submitted.
  • It could happen if something is missing such as no text in the post or a completely blank submission. Alternatively, it may be caused by incorrect or problematic content for example, an image that is too large (like one with extremely high resolution) or a URL that is not formatted properly.

Possible Solution:

  • We suggest reviewing the content whether it’s text, a URL, or an image and correcting any issues or formatting errors. Once everything looks good, try submitting the post again.

9- Facebook error: Error validating access token: The user is enrolled in a blocking, logged-in checkpoint (code 190, subcode 490)

Possible Reason?

  • This may occur when your account is temporarily flagged by Facebook for security or privacy reasons. Common triggers include suspicious login activity, posting inappropriate content, or violations of Facebook’s terms of service

Possible Solution:

  • We suggest clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
  • We suggest logging in to your Facebook profile or Facebook Business Manager.
  • We suggest answering any security questions at the login checkpoint, if prompted.

10- Facebook error: Permissions error (code 200, subcode 1609008)

Possible Reason?

  • This may occur when you’re attempting to include a Facebook link within your post.

Possible Solution:

  • We suggest refraining from publishing links that contain facebook.com in your posts.

11- Facebook error: It looks like you were misusing this feature by going too fast. You’ve been blocked from using it. Learn more about blocks in the Help Center. (code 368, subcode 1390008)

Possible Reason?

  • This may occur if you’re posting too frequently, sharing very similar content repeatedly, publishing content that appears spammy, or a combination of these factors.

Possible Solution:

  • To prevent this, vary your post formats, messaging, and timing. Maintain a healthy posting frequency and focus on providing valuable, relevant content to your audience.
