Facebook Metric Deprecation (Effective November 2025)

Rate this knowledgebase

Starting November 15, 2025, Meta will discontinue several metrics within its Facebook Page Insights API, including Impressions, Page Fans and Demographics.
These changes may slightly alter the way your performance data appears in Social Champ’s Analytics.

Here we will understand,

  • What does the Views metric mean?
  • Which Social Champ analytics metrics are affected by this update?

What is the “Views” Metric?

According to meta, views are,

“On Reels and Videos, Plays will now be referred to as Views. The calculation method remains unchanged, so you should not see significant differences in performance numbers, only the updated label.”

As part of this transition:
– The Replays metric will be removed.
– For Stories, photos, or text posts, the Views metric will replace Impressions.
– Views will represent the number of times a post appears on someone’s screen — including repeated views.

For Example:
If one person views a photo three separate times in the same day, it will count as 3 Views instead of one Impression.
Therefore, you may observe an increase in your Views count compared to previous Impressions data.

Metrics Impacted in Social Champ

From November 15, 2025, Social Champ will stop retrieving data for deprecated Facebook metrics and will replace them with the Views metric where applicable.
This update will also affect how certain engagement metrics are calculated — for example, the Engagement Rate per Impressions will now become Engagement Rate per Views.
Below is a breakdown of the changes:

Metrics Social Champ Reports Affected Change
Impressions Audience > Engagement Rate

Audience > Impressions

Content > Global > Top Content

Content > Performance >
Organic/Paid/Total Impressions & Engagement Rate

Meta is deprecating this metric and replacing it with Views.

For instance, if one person views your post three times, it will now count as 3 Views.

Note: Viral Impressions will no longer be available. However, Organic vs. Paid data will continue to be provided.

Page Fans Audience > Audience Growth In Social Champ reports, this will be replaced by Followers.
Demographic Data Audience > Demographics Facebook has removed demographic insights for Fans by city, and country, These data points will no longer be accessible through Meta’s API, only language insights can be analysed

Summary

To align with Meta’s API updates, Social Champ’s Analytics will reflect these metric adjustments starting November 15, 2025.
You may notice some differences in data labelling (e.g., Impressions → Views) or availability (e.g., Page Fans and certain demographic data).
We recommend keeping these updates in mind when reviewing your Facebook performance reports in Social Champ.
